Employee Resource Groups help bring some of an organization’s most valued employees together, creating a sense of community and encouraging greater engagement company-wide.


José Castellon, an employee of the Northrop Grumman Aero- space sector and chair of the One Adelante enterprise execu- tive board, says ERGs have a broad interest in support of busi- ness objectives. “They serve as tools for connecting people; for recruitment, retention and professional development–really a by-product of the company’s mission,” he explains.


The 1,500 member Adelante forum is sponsored by an execu- tive champion who connects the group to upper manage- ment. Since Northrop Grumman Vice President of Corporate Responsibility Sandra Evers-Manly is a true advocate for diver- sity and inclusion, she has done a lot to facilitate ERG growth.


“I have been at Northrop Grumman since I was 22 years old,” she says on the Diversity & Inclusion website. “I started as a summer hire during my junior year in college. Over the years
