Kenauk in Montebello is the ideal place to start. This special territory, located a short drive down Highway 148 in Montebello, offers anglers the chance to pursue the wily trout immediately after ice-out. This is an opportunity you will not find in other areas of eastern Ontario and western Quebec. The lakes at Kenauk, which

are closely managed by resident biologist Bill Nowell, offer trout fishing as soon as the ice has left the water. Depending on the weather, many of the lakes on their territory will be open by mid-April for both

rainbows and brook trout. The angler who enjoys spinning, casting or even fly-fishing will be right at home on any number of lakes on the territory. For up-to-the-minute information on the ice-out status and trout fishing at Kenauk, please contact Bill Nowell at: 819-423-5573. Until next time, best of luck in

the Great Outdoors.

Keep an eye out at local bookstores for Jeff Morrison’s two new books from Lone Pine Publishing: The Canadian Wild fish Cookbook and The Canadian Outdoor Cookbook.
