The first step to claim your rights is to be aware of your rights


YOUTH JOURNALISTS FOR HUMAN RIGHTS Funded by the European Commission, Sharek Youth Forum started the implementation of Spread the Word: the Youth Journalists for Human Rights Project. The project aims at responding to the general lack of awareness on human rights related issues in the occupied Palestinian Territories by building up the capacities of youth about the required skills, in order to highlight and report on human rights topics. The project also aims to improve media professionalism through delivering intensive training for young journalists. Furthermore, the project seeks to enhance the capacities and awareness of youth journalists at the grassroots level to become active participants in the promotion, enhancement and monitoring of human rights in the occupied Palestinian territories, and thus increasing the awareness of Palestinians at large of their human rights and fundamental freedom. A media forum was created, where youth can discuss, highlight and report on human rights issues and learn about human rights. This project is important because a vibrant and active youth sector will advocate for the protection and enjoyment of human rights on a local, national and international level.
