living Las Vegas If you’re in the mood for
a more casual atmosphere, there’s The Pub at the Monte Carlo. With more than 70 beers on tap and countless big screen TVs, The Pub is a great spot to stop in and grab a cold one and catch a game while in Vegas. And with a menu that includes fresh mango chicken quesadillas, grilled fish and some of the biggest burgers you’ve ever seen, you’ll find more than enough to eat.
The Pub is also known for
its famous adult milkshakes, such as “The Luck of the Irish” or “Peppermint Snowflake,” and hosts live entertainment on the weekends.
For fine dining, look no
further than Michael Mina’s American Fish located at Aria. The menu includes signature dishes like shrimp and grits (loved it), cornmeal-crusted rainbow trout, and Hawaii Big Eye Tuna, and impeccable ser- vice.
Another one of my favorite
restaurants in Vegas is the Burger Bar. Whether you’re in the mood for a beef, buffalo, turkey or vegetarian burger, you’ll find it here along with a range of gourmet toppings and buns. If you like sushi, be sure to check out Social House, now located in City Center.
SHOWTIME From magic to musicals,
the shows in Las Vegas are endless, but Disney’s ”The Lion King,” playing at Manda- lay Bay, is definitely the must- see. Based on the celebrated 1994 Disney animated film, ”The Lion King” features an amazing ensemble of inter- national performers, whose detailed costumes, carved masks and intricate makeup transport the audience to the gorgeous vistas of the African Savanna.
”The Lion King” is, in one
word, breathtaking. Then again, as the winner of more than 70 major awards world- wide, including the Tony for Best Musical, and the Grammy for Best Musical Show Album, you kind of expect an amazing show. And it definitely exceeds those expectations.

For a walk on the wild
side, there’s also the Shark Reef Aquarium where you can come face-to-face with some of the earth’s most fascinating creatures in North America’s only predator-based aqua- rium and exhibit. Located in Mandalay Bay, the Shark Reef features sharks of all kinds, along with sawfish, giant rays, endangered green sea turtles, piranha, moon jellies and the rare golden crocodiles.
In all, there are over 2,000
animals in 1.6 million gallons of seawater.
Probably never thought
about getting that close to a shark of doing an off road ad- venture in Las Vegas, huh? See, I told you — there’s a lot more to this city than gamb- ling.

Coca-Cola promotes healthy living with $25,000 grant to America’s State Parks Foundation
Summer is the perfect time
to go out to the park and play with your family. That’s why Coca-Cola teamed up with the America’s State Parks Foun- dation and the National Park Foundation to encourage Michigan families to come out and play as part of the “Ameri- ca Is Your Park” campaign.
Coca-Cola granted $25,000
at an event for families in Wil- liam G. Milliken State Park and Harbor while encourag- ing citizens nationwide to vote online for their favorite park to win $100,000.
“We understand that more
Michigan families are looking for ways to have fun and be active together,” said Percy Wells, vice president, Public Affairs and Communications, Coca-Cola Enterprises – Cen- tral Business Unit.
“Coca-Cola has supported
Michigan’s state parks and America’s national parks for the past 40 years and we are proud to contribute to the ex- pansion of this beautiful urban state park.”
Coca-Cola launched the
“America Is Your Park” cam- paign on July 29 and as part of
this summer program, hosted a health and wellness event for local families at the Wil- liam G. Milliken State Park, Michigan’s first urban state park.
William G. Milliken State
Park and Harbor will be used as seed money for an indoor/ outdoor adventure play area for community use.
The event allowed families
to experience the wonderful outdoor recreation opportuni- ties in the park first-hand and provide them with tips on how to incorporate physical activ- ity into an outdoor summer routine.
Because of mounting pres-
sures on state budgets, Amer- ica’s State Parks have been deemed one of our most en- dangered national treasures by the National Trust for Historic Preservation. The America’s State Parks Foundation was formed to raise public aware- ness and facilitate public, pri- vate and partner support for this important cause.
That’s why grants like
Coca-Cola’s — one of the first companies to support this effort — are critical to keep-
ing the more than 6,000 state park sites vital as fun and safe destinations for families.
“America’s State Parks are
the top recreation destination in the country, serving nearly three-quarters of a billion visi- tors annually across our 50 states,” said Joe Elton, presi- dent of the National Associa- tion of State Park Directors.
“We are very grateful to our
friends at Coca-Cola for allow- ing us to showcase the incred- ible and irreplaceable resourc- es we have here in Michigan and for making a national in- vestment in the future of our state parks so they can con- tinue to help our citizens live a healthy and fulfilled lives.”
Coca-Cola is also calling on
Michigan residents and people across the country to vote for their favorite park on LivePos-
itively.com for a chance to win the title of “America’s Favorite Park” and a $100,000 grant.
