in being a wife, mother and grand- mother, and was lively and fun to be around. She was a gifted designer and seamstress. In addition, many thought of her as an engineer as she
loved tinkering
with electronics. She was very
skilled in the area of
administra-
tion and advanced during her 40-year career. She many
hobbies, including sewing, knitting, cooking, traveling and entertaining friends.
She was known
for her classy style of dress, and her inner and outer beauty.
She is survived
by her husband, David; daughter, Danette Wilder; son, Delonzo; step- children, David, Jr., Angela Harris, Gwendolyn Wilder and Andre Wilder; several grandchil- dren; father, Wil- liam Edwards; sister, Betty Sim- mons; and many others.
Ruby St Clair Services were
held for Ruby St. Clair on June 4 at Messiah Baptist Church. Mrs. St. Clair, 81, died May 28.
She was born
Oct. 4, 1928 in McCarley, Miss., and educated in the Caroll County School District, where she met her husband, the late James St. Clair.
The couple
moved to Detroit in 1951. She was an excellent seam- stress. She was a generous woman who took care of
everybody. She had a passion for gar- dening. Being out in her garden gave her a sense of se- renity.
Mrs. St. Clair
is survived by her son, Lee; grandchil- dren, Dana, Ray- moor Tamara and Tahira St. Clair, Leshonee Pasha and Emily Stewart; three
stepgrand-
children, Tanesha Harrison and Sean and Shanaye Carr; 16 great-grandchil- dren; sister, Mae Gilbert; and many others.

Feb. 11, 1931 in Dumas, Ark., and was educated in that community. She married the late Jesse Elling- ton in 1949. They moved to Detroit in 1950. She worked for Awrey Bakery and General Linen while raising their children.

5, 1971, and edu- cated in the Detroit Public Schools. He was on the football team, swim team, and in drama pro- grams. As a child, he enjoyed par- ticipating in activi- ties at Semi-Quois, PAL, 4H, Alkebu- lan and the Inner City Sub-Center. He spent his summers at Franklin camp in Lake Orion.
He played the
violin in a youth orchestra and was a martial artist.
He was also a
skilled tradesman, and worked as a general contractor, carpenter, plumber and builder. He worked at W Indus- tries as a defense contractor. He was a lead line man and led his crew so ef- fectively that man- agement assigned him to special projects. He loved his job, and his co- workers called him the hardest work- ing man at W.
He was also
active at Bethel Baptist Church, East. He loved to discuss Biblical
history and reli- gious issues.

and accomplished outdoorsman, he had museum qual- ity pieces of arma- ment.

Reginald Davis Services for Davis
were held on May 8 at Bethel A.M.E. Church with the Rev. Alfred John- son officiating. Mr. Davis, 74, died on May 3.
Mr. Davis was
born on April 21, 1936, in Lovejoy, Ill., to Michael and Henrietta Davis. He
graduated
from Lovejoy High School in 1956 and attended Lincoln University on a basketball scholar- ship. He was the co-captain of the 1959-60 Lincoln University Tigers basketball
team,
who won second place in the NCAA Tournament.
In the spring of
1958, he became a member of Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity and graduated from
college in 1961 with a bachelor’s degree in physical education.
He was a dedi-
cated educator and coach for over 30 years in the DPS, where he taught at Krolik and Thur- good Marshall El- ementary schools.
In 1994, he re-
ceived the Booker T. Washington Business
Asso- ciation Educator
Achievement Award for outstanding and dedicated service. In 1997, the State of Michigan issued a

to teaching. He re- tired from DPS on Nov. 1, 2009.
Mr. Davis had a
passion for sports, jazz, cooking and horse-racing.

The City of Detroit through the Planning and Development Department an- ticipates receiving a Federal Grant for emergency shelter and certain sup- portive services for the homeless population in August 2010. Approximately $1.6 million in total funding is expected.
The City of Detroit is now inviting tax-exempt nonprofit organizations, which have at least one (1) year experience in providing shelter and/or assistance to the homeless population to submit proposals for funding consideration.
Renewal applicants should base their request(s) on the amount awarded in 2009, this includes the amount awarded for each activity.
Sub-grantees are required to obtain a DUNS number. Sub-grantee agen- cies must report client data using the Homeless Management Information System (HMIS). Selected sub-grantees must provide data to the City in a timely manner.
The ESG proposal package is available on the City of Detroit’s website at
www.ci.detroit.mi.us. 1. Click on the “Departments” tab located on the Home page. 2. Select “Planning and Development Department” from the list of departments.
