The judges recognised Maunder’s huge contribution to the local community, which included walking the Cardiff Shine marathon for charity after overcoming kidney cancer. He enjoyed the 26 miles so much he is planning to take part in four similar events next year! Maunder described the Pride of Agents accolade as “a real shock”.

“I had no idea I had been nominated. My

regional manger put me forward! It’s not quite sunk in yet, but I’m so delighted,” he said. “Everyone always has bad days at work but I can honestly say that I have very few of them. “I think the way to be a great agent is to turn

your customers into your friends and always put them first so that the holiday you’re suggesting for them is the one that’s going to suit them the best.”

The other winners were: ■ Nichola O’Brien, cruise manager from Barrhead Travel, Glasgow, winner of the Pride of Independent Retail award.

■ Louise Robinson and Louise Dickenson from Future Travel, who won the Homeworkers award.

■ Joanne Kevil from Gold Medal Travel, who picked up the Call Centre award.
