POST SHOW REVIEW MICRO | NANO | MEMS 2015

MICRO | NANO | MEMS 2015: Success, it’s all down to the fine detail

together the best of UK and international technologies in the Micro Nano MEMS field.” Over the years M N M has worked in close relationship with key industry players to build a firm foundation within this field. One company that has continued to offer its support to the show is Accumold. Returning once again to this year’s event, Aaron Johnson, Vice President of Marketing & Customer Strategy at Accumold said: “Accumold is a proud exhibitor of Micro Nano MEMS! Over the years we have had great success meeting new customers. If you're at all interested in micro technologies I encourage you to check out this event!” These sentiments were echoed by Richard

Micro | Nano | MEMS 2015took place at the NEC in September and was a record breaking success. Here’s more on how this year’s event defined not only the pace of this industry, but also how the show is continuing to establish itself as ‘the’ industry leading platform

S

howcasing the state of the art in micro manufacturing and high precision

engineering, tooling and equipment, Micro | Nano | MEMS 2015 exhibition and conference drew in an impressive number of exhibitors and visitors alike. Both attendance and exhibitor figures were up significantly on previous years, indicating the show’s rapidly increasing popularity and need for this event.

This year visitor figures attracted a mix

of high profile delegates with 42% of attendees being involved in manufacturing, whilst 36% were from component specification, with the remaining 22% coming from a mix of distribution and IP/software development. Top level executives were amongst these figures with 13% holding a director level, whilst 18% were engineers and a further 15% were management level. The top three markets that visitors held a business interest in proved to be medical with 32% of visitors focusing on this sector, whilst 32% were targeting aerospace and a further 31% of the total visitor figures were involved in automotive.

10 WINTER 2015 | MICRO MATTERS Unlike any other show, Micro Nano

MEMS 2015 was co-located with four other market leading industrial events including: Sensors & Instrumentation - The UK’s only dedicated sensing technology event, The Machine Building Show - The UK’s annual automation showcase, TCT Show + Personalise - The leading European event for product development and additive manufacturing technologies and PPMA Show - Processing & Packaging Machinery. As visitors were able to visit all shows with the same ticket, this significantly increased visitor traffic between the halls and a decidedly busy atmosphere ensued. Exhibitors were particularly upbeat about the show, Nadeem Rizvi, Managing Director at Laser Micromachining said: “The Micro Nano Mems show continues to grow and is now the UK's leading micro-technology event. Engineers working on new product ideas can find precision manufacturing solutions from a diverse range of suppliers and they can also gain useful insights into emerging technologies from the wide range of seminar presentations. The event brings

Moss, UK Marketing Manager for Physik Instrumente, also exhibiting at the event, who found the show to be: “really productive”, with the “quality of people that they met to be “excellent and far exceeding our expectations”. Moss added: “Also it was nice to work with a team that were so proactive and professional in ensuring that we had the best possible experience as an exhibitor. We will definitely be booking again for next year.” The show was also recognised for its major

industry significance by international exhibitor Celoplás. Representing the Portuguese - based, high precision plastic parts specialist, exhibitor Ana Cortez, RDI at Celoplás said: “This was our first time at the show. We knew this show had a highly specialised focus on micro technologies and we were very pleased with the amount and quality of visitors that came to our stand. We also take this opportunity to congratulate the organisers.” A technical seminar programme ran in

addition to the exhibition. Conference attendee figures were strong and some very compelling discussions ensued as a result. Speaking at the conference on behalf of

Interposer, Ian Burnett said: “Exhibition stands were busy and seamless transfer between the events meant that I could cover a lot of ground in just one day. As a speaker, this resulted in a good attendance at the talk and some very lively questioning as well as new perspectives on the technology that I was describing. The audience was larger than previous years and many stayed afterwards to continue discussions.” Bookings and registration for the next

show will open early 2016. So plan ahead to bring your business and ideas to this industry leading hub of innovation.
