and activities on offer, you’re sure to find something you love. Many of them are already underway, so get involved and join the action. We’ve picked a handful of the best: Tis year is the 20th anniversary

of North Tyneside’s Age Takes Centre Stage, a month-long festival designed to encourage older residents of North Tyneside to make new friends, try out all kinds of activities and develop new interests. From archery to yoga — and everything in between — Age Takes Centre Stage offers a truly packed programme of events. Balance out your fun-filled aſternoons with some slightly more sensible drop-in sessions including history discussions, pension support and computer training. It’s running until 31 October so there’s still plenty of time to get in on the action. Home of the arty festival,

Get your dancing shoes on for the tea dance at the Royal Festival Hall, which promises music from the ’20s through to the ’60s. Tere are events on until the end of the month, so head along for film screenings, dances and cultural trips aplenty. You’re in for a treat — and an

active day — at Belfast’s Imagine Arts Festival on 20 October. Te event aims to encourage older people’s enthusiasm for the arts with a jam-packed programme of creative and cultural workshops and activities. Try a walking tour of the city or sit back and relax for a screening of golden

oldie Casablanca. Don’t miss the traditional tea dance, where you can sway the aſternoon away with hundreds of people, live music and free refreshments. In Cardiff, Age Cymru is once

again hosting its Spread the Warmth Winter Concert. Now in its fourth year, the concert will be hosted at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama on 26 November. With performances from Morriston Orpheus Choir, Ysgol y Wern and Charlie and Lizzie Lovell-Jones, it’s guaranteed to get you in the festive mood. Book tickets ahead of time and get into the Christmas spirit while raising money for Age Cymru’s annual winter campaign. Make sure to head along to

Te 50+ Show, the UK’s largest exhibition for mature visitors,

featuring 150 exhibitors and attracting up to 10,000 visitors. Tere are four broad themes to the event — hobbies, health, craſts and travel — and you can easily stroll from the live cookery area across to a seminar on retirement planning before taking on the climbing wall — if you’re brave enough! Te show will be held in Glasgow on 11-12 November 2015 with future dates to be confirmed in London, Birmingham and Manchester. Now in its eighth year, the show is tailored around making the most of life and is brimming with enthusiasm, creativity and activity. Tere are plenty more senior-

focused events scheduled to take place across the country in the new year, so remember to keep an eye out for more festival fun come spring.
