BA to start only direct link between London and Lima
British Airways is to start flights between Gatwick and Lima, and Heathrow and San Jose, in California, on May 4, 2016. London’s only direct flight to the Peruvian capital will operate three times a week on a Boeing 777 during the summer, before switching to twice-weekly on October 30. The daily San Jose service will operate on a 787-9 Dreamliner.

Finnair unveils summer Edinburgh-Helsinki service
will be the carrier’s first from Scotland 60
Finnair will launch a seasonal service from Edinburgh to Helsinki on April 18. The service will operate on an Airbus A319 until October 27.

Onward connections offered by Delta from New York JFK airport
The airline has scheduled a 210-seat Boeing 767-300ER for the route, which will be operated on a seasonal basis. Nat Pieper, Delta’s senior vice-
president for Europe, the Middle East and Africa, said: “For the second summer in a row, Delta will be launching routes that give customers more options when flying between the UK and the US. “Delta and Virgin Atlantic are committed to offering an extensive transatlantic network.” Passengers on the new flights
will have access to on-demand inflight entertainment and Wi-Fi. The Heathrow flight will depart
at 14.15 and arrive at 18.07, while the Edinburgh flight will depart at
10.30 and arrive at 13.01.

Flybe to boost capacity and launch services in October
Flybe will launch daily services from Southampton to Dusseldorf and from Edinburgh to Liverpool John Lennon airport on October 25. The carrier is also adding capacity to its Isle of Man and Belfast City route from Liverpool, with an additional daily departure to each destination.

New ground-handler for Monarch at Birmingham
Monarch has appointed Aviator as its ground-handling service provider at Birmingham airport. Monarch said the deal would lead to a tangible improvement in its service at the airport.
