Taking our terminals to a new level
Introducing new and upgraded ships and improving the turnaround times of our sailings means we need to carry out improvement works to our terminals, so our plans include significant investment at both Fishbourne and Portsmouth Gunwharf.
Our plans take account of and respect the particular characteristics of each site, and we are committed to maintaining our good relationships by working with our neighbours in each area to minimise any disruption caused by the works.
We believe that the changes we propose are good news for local residents and businesses, as well as for our customers. At both ends of the route, introducing double deck loading will speed up the loading and unloading processes. This will reduce the length of time car engines are running and the associated noise. In Portsmouth there will be significant reductions in traffic congestion, and in both terminals the introduction of double deck loading will reduce the noise currently associated with moveable car decks.
