PORTASILO SECURES £800K ORDER FOR CONCRETE BATCHING PLANT SILOS

Y

ork-based engineering company Portasilo which specialises in the design and manufacture of bulk material handling systems has won a

contract worth over £800k to supply 20 storage silos for four concrete batching plants currently under construction by D&C Engineers from Tamworth. Portasilo’s 60 years’ experience in

the design and manufacture of large storage vessels and the capacity of its purpose-built manufacturing facility in York were key factors in D&C Engineers’ decision to award the contract. D&C Engineers’ managing director

Geoff Chatterley, who is managing the project, required a manufacturing company to assist in keeping this project on time and that could produce the quality and documentation required to satisfy the nuclear industry. “We are pleased to say that

Portasilo has successfully fulfilled this role for us,” he said. Portasilo will design and build eight

250-tonne capacity and 12 100-tonne capacity steel storage silos for delivery in single pieces, with the final delivery scheduled for July 2015. D&C Engineers is working on a prestigious nuclear installation on the south coast of the UK. Portasilo’s storage silos are associated with four concrete batching plants which will provide the concrete associated with the construction of the new power plant. Portasilo managing director Neil

Gardiner said: “A main driver in Portasilo

Portasilo is manufacturing 20 steel storage silos for concrete batching plants being built by Tamworth-based D&C Engineers at one of the country’s largest construction projects on the south coast

winning this business was our capability to manufacture large quantities of silos in a relatively short period of time. We are proud to be working on what is being described as one of this country’s largest construction projects, and looking forward

to seeing the batching plants in action later this year.” www.portasilo.co.uk

PORTASILO TO EXHIBIT AT EUROPEAN COATINGS SHOW 2015 IN GERMANY

leading low-profile Rotoflo discharger which offers a highly controlled, reliable means of discharging difficult materials from silos. Portasilo’s industry experience includes

projects of all sizes for clients including PPG, Crown Paints, Berger Paints, Asian Paints, Akzo Nobel, and Hempel Paints. The company has an extensive

advanced engineering and manufacturing facility in Yorkshire, England where laboratory tests can be carried out at its Technical Innovation Centre to determine the properties of any material, so that its engineers can specify the best combination of silos, dischargers and conveyors to efficiently store and handle that product.

Portasilo’s managing director Neil

Gardiner said: “The European Coatings Show is an important date in our calendar, giving us the chance to catch up with the industry’s latest innovations.
