Sept. 14 • Exploring Santa Rosa Island with the Catalina Island Conservancy, Catalina. Join the Catalina Island Conservancy to explore California’s second largest Channel Island, Santa Rosa. At more than 93 square miles in size, Santa Rosa is filled with rolling hills, deep canyons and wide beaches. The island’s relatively low profile is broken by a high, central mountain range, rising 1,589 feet at its highest point. Learn more about the island with Conservancy biologists and staff. Sept. 14 • Ventura Vintage Rods Harbor Run 24, Channel Islands. Channel Islands Harbor hosts the event from 8 a.m. - 3 p.m. at Harborview Park. More than 300 clas- sic cars from 1975 and earlier will be on display. Participating cars range from street rods, muscle cars and cus- toms to pick-ups. Event attendance is free to the public; there is a $20 fee to enter a vintage car in the event and registrants are being asked to bring two canned food items to be donated to FOOD Share of Ventura County. Several trophies will be handed out along with raffles, a 50/50 drawing and prizes. Food vendors will be set- up throughout the park. All proceeds benefit local charities. For more infor-

Sept. 25 • Scuba Adventures under- neath: 15 degrees North and 15 degrees South, Marina del Rey. Join yachting enthusiasts at noon for the California Yacht Club’s monthly pres- entation on boating interests and unique travel adventures. World-class SCUBA divers Mike and Barbie Blecher — two of the most experienced dive expedition leaders in the country – will share their unique adventures beneath the seas. Oct. 26 • The Wild Side Art Show and Sale, Newport Beach. A passion for Catalina Island and plein air art come together to create an extraordinary afternoon. The show features 10 nationally acclaimed plein air artists, who will display their interpretations of Catalina’s rugged wildlands and scenic beauty. Proceeds from the sale of these paintings support the growth
