Robert Redford in the film “Downhill Racer” who turned his passion for skiing and film into an Emmy-winning career. Earlier this year, Joe Jay Jalbert was inducted into the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Hall of Fame. The whole family went out to Park City, Utah, for the induction. While there, Jay, who remains an avid skier and snowboarder, thought about getting his 1-year-old daughter on the slopes for the first time, but couldn’t find boots that fit her. that doesn’t mean it lacks other deserving candidates. “My mom [Sue] should be in


the Mom Hall of Fame,” Jalbert said. “I don’t know if there is one, though.” LM

Claim to fame: Four-time All-American led


Tar Heels to two NCAA championships and was USILA Midfielder of the Year in 1983.
