NOTICEBOARD WEMBLEY WIN FOR BOLTON BOYS
Representing Bolton Wanderers, Bolton School Junior Boys’ football team has won the Football League Kids’ Trust Cup Final. In a closely contested match, the boys overcame St James’ School who represented AFC Bournemouth. Despite going a goal behind, the boys, captained by Jensen Myerscough, came through as 3-1 winners as they took centre stage at Wembley prior to the SkyBet between Derby County and QPR. Scorer of Bolton’s third goal,
11-year-old Cian Spencer- McDermott, said: “This was one of the best experiences of my life. I was nervous walking out onto the pitch as it was so awesome just being there, but once the whistle blew and we started to play, I knew we just had to win and I was desperate to get that all important goal! When I took
the free kick, I pictured myself back in my friend Luca’s backgarden where we practise shooting. I was buzzing after the game. Another highlight was getting to go in the changing rooms and see the teams’ kits and boots laid out ready for their big game that

afternoon. All in all, a brilliant weekend!” Stephen Whittaker, head of the Junior
Boys' School, congratulated the team on their win: “As the families entered the stadium we knew the day was going to be amazing. The teams were announced over the sound system to the arriving fans whilst the boys were shown on the big screen. The boys took a little while to get started and the catalyst seemed to be Bournemouth's goal. The match was topped off with a delightful free- kick from Cian. The boys applauded Bournemouth off and then walked to the winners' gantry to
lift the cup and receive their trophies. In all, the experience was amazing for parents and boys alike.”

shows just how good she is at the moment,” said Plymouth College’s director of modern pentathlon, Andy Hill. “This was a tough competition with the best athletes from 20 different nations. Youth A tournaments are for athletes aged 17-18 so the fact that Kerenza is still only 16 really puts her performance into perspective. She is now waiting to hear if she has been selected for the European Championships later this summer.” Catherine Bishop and Chloe Hamilton teamed
up with Kerenza to become the British Triathlon Team Champions. Their static shoot was particularly pleasing as they came second, third and fourth. These were Kerenza’s sixth and seventh national titles.
