MULTI DEVICE CHARGING WITH LATEST USB HUBS

have been announced by Powersolve. The company advises, it is possible to use these devices to charge tablet PCs, smartphones or any USB compliant device. These two latest devices are the

PSUSB-10CH, which will charge and sync up to ten USB devices simultaneously while the PSUSB- 20CH can handle up to 20. In addition, both are ideal for

automated duplication tasks such as programming USB memory sticks. As a result they are ideal for applications

in schools, offices or businesses where multiple charging and data transfer is often required. Up to three ten port hubs can be connected in cascade to provide as many as 30 USB ports while two 20 port hubs can be cascaded to provide up to 40 USB ports. The company highlights that these

devices are designed to be compatible with all USB compliant devices, in effect the new hubs support the full range of high speed (480Mbps), full speed (12Mbps) and low speed

SUPER CAPACITOR CHARGER WITH ACTIVE BALANCING

an average input current limit that can be programmed up to 3A with +/-2 percent accuracy, preventing power source overload while minimising capacitor recharging. The device features active charge

A high efficiency input current- limited buck-boost supercapacitor charger has been released by Linear Technology with active charge balancing for 1 or 2 series supercapacitors. The LTC3128 has

balancing reducing dissipative external ballast resistors, ensuring balanced operation and charging with mismatched capacitors, and less frequent recharge cycles. Design features include a

programmable maximum capacitor voltage clamp that monitors and

enforces the voltage across each capacitor in the series stack, this ensures reliable operation in case of mismatched capacities. The low noise buck-boost

topology allows the output supercapacitor to be charged whether above or below the input. The low-RDS(on), low gate charge synchronous switches provide high efficiency conversion to minimise the charging time of storage elements. Linear Technology www.linear.com

Fujitsu Laboratories and Imec Holst Centre have developed a wireless transceiver circuit for use in body area networks (BAN) for medical applications that is known to adhere to the 400MHz-band international standard. This technology has the capacity to extend the battery life of conventional sensor products used for patient monitoring by some ten-fold. In effect this could cut the frequency of battery replacement or recharges, lighten the burden on patients and increase the work efficiency of medical practitioners.

MI is becoming increasingly sophisticated and is taking

the role of electronics in everyday life to the next level. In this month’s issue we explore how display technology is advancing with the latest graphics controller. There is also a focus on optoelectronics, exploring the current trends in LED drivers along with an insight into how the design space is shaping up with modern design software. Also don’t miss our regular

feature focuses exploring the latest connectors with the world of ‘smart interconnection’ along with a look at how switch technology is moving forward.

A new series of Transient Voltage Suppression (TVS) devices has been released by Infineon Technologies, designed to protect high speed interfaces of electronic systems from Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) strikes. The new ESD105 series addresses

TVS for the high-speed data interfaces such as USB 3.0 and Gbit Ethernet.

As continuous miniaturisation of

integrated circuits (ICs) continues to push the required performance improvement, it leads to increased sensitivity of the IC regarding ESD events. Dedicated ESD protection devices are therefore necessary to handle the ESD event before the destructive energy enters the IC input/output (I/O) and causes damage. On behalf of ESS Technology, Ismosys has recently announced the release of the company’s new range of high performance audio I/Cs. The new SABRE9601 headphone amplifier is claimed to deliver a great performance level of 122dB DNR and -117dB THD+N. The company advises this device is an ideal fit with ESS’s SABRE-2M series of 32-bit DACs, a product range known to be well suited to audiophile-grade mobile devices such as smartphones, tablets, laptops and digital music players.

Harting has combined its Ha-VIS PreLink data network cabling technology with its M12 mating face to produce an extremely compact field-assembly connector solution for use in Fast Ethernet or PROFINET communications in industrial environments and applications. To expand the application area of

the preLink M12 assembly, the company advises it has reduced the

size of the connector. The new solution enables preLink technology to be used in conjunction with the M12 connector face in applications where space is limited. At the same time, the number of individual parts has been reduced, so that the installer can also perform assembly quickly and easily on site. Harting www.harting.com

A new software version has been released by Agilent Technologies Inc. improving the company’s EEsof EDA Advanced Design System software, with this latestADS 2014 version. This platform is claimed to dramatically improve design productivity and efficiency with new technologies and capabilities. The ADS is electronic design automation software for RF, microwave and signal-integrity applications. The ADS 2014 version is claimed to provide users with new technologies, new capabilities and enhancements for silicon RFIC, MMIC, RF printed circuit board, and RF module design.

(1.5Mbps) operations. The PSUSB- 10CH 10 port hub features a charging current of 2A while the PSUSB-20CH provides 1.1A. Over current detection and

protection is standard as is protection against surge and ESD. Front panel LEDs provide charge and sync information for each port. Both units come with an external

150W desk-top power supply and input data cable as standard. Powersolve www.powersolvemobile.co.uk
