Gloria Lee "Eternal Spring"
February & March 2014 RSVP to pr@ecgallery.com • Call the gallery for event details
Gloria Lee’s creativity comes to her with a sense of spontaneity, without a preconceived idea of what her artwork will be until she starts painting. As all artists, she begins facing a blank canvas and lets her imagination and creativity fill its plane. She fills it with texture, rich colors and beauty using sporadic form. Just like Van Gogh, each of her floral subjects have their own individual characteristics; they become timeless. Lee reinvents the blank pictorial space with her use of texture and abstract forms. She fills each piece with her unique artistic individuality. To her, the most rewarding feeling is when other people appreciate her art, especially when one of her pieces is given a home. Gloria Lee’s art conveys exactly what she is trying to communicate to the spectator: happiness. Her vibrant floral art not only brightens personal and public spaces but also individual lives. As Earth’s natural art forms, flowers embody the subject matter of countless paintings, but also speak of the artistic process. Gloria Lee’s depiction of them evoke profound emotions and awaken a feeling of universal connectedness. In the season’s transition from winter to spring, we rediscover the wonder of nature. Every year, the snow melts and small green shoots begin to peek from the dark earth. Nature’s promise to return to beauty revives the hope and joy derived from the simple flower. The variety found in so many different kinds of flowers: the shapes, colors, construction is mimicked by the artist’s creativity. Painters use line, color and composition to generate dialogue, evolve and improve. So does the flower. Join Gloria Lee as she creates her own “Eternal Spring” in a new collection of original acrylic paintings.
