Te Wyndham Bar has an outdoor terrace,

perfect for those lazy summer nights, whilst the bar hosts secluded booths for those quiet moments. All possess harbour views. Te Wyndham also hosts the Blue Harbour Spa, with a selection of treatments, plus steam room, sauna and gym and a natural light indoor pool. With the end of the working week approaching the bar was a hive of activity. A selection of residents and local businessmen were enjoying the outdoor terrace and the light bites and snacks served in the bar. We had made reservations for dinner at the

Riverside Brassiere and though it was a Friday evening it was not as busy as the bar. We were welcomed with a glass of Champagne and then shown to our table overlooking the harbour. I opted for the scallops with chorizo and pea purée, a fabulous combination which hit all the right notes. My guest had smoked salmon and all the trimmings specially prepared by the chef. Although this was not on the menu they were more than happy to accommodate. For mains, I opted for the gnocchi with roasted squash, baby spinach and goats’ cheese. Te pasta

was fresh and perfectly cooked. Te goats’ cheese was subtle and creamy, lifting the spinach and squash. My guest enjoyed the beef bourguignon with carrots twice cooked, blade steak pancetta, potatoes, mushrooms and onions. Tis was washed down with a delicious Pinot Noir. To follow, we were offered a tempting choice of deserts, including sticky toffee pudding and crème brûlée. Alas, defeated, we opted for coffees and cappuccino as our final choice for the evening. With the morning sunshine filling the suite

we rose early to take breakfast in the brassiere with a selection of cereals, smoked salmon and à la carte options. Fully refreshed, with compliments of the Wyndham, we were ready to head out and enjoy the day ahead. London was busy with Christmas shoppers and, with a short taxi ride to the centre of the city, we were soon back in the hustle and bustle of the festivities, twinkling lights and grand Christmas windows. With its river views and relaxing atmosphere it was a nice experience to break away from the city centre accommodation.
