than four months after tornados ripped through the state, many are still trying to put their lives back together. Te OEC Foundation is still helping those who are struggling navigate through these uncertain times. “We’ve awarded more than $224,000 in tornado relief since the end of

May,” said Vivian Gibson, president of the OEC Foundation. “Most of these grants have paid for building materials, home repairs, and replaced personal property; all have eased the financial burden and some of the emotional stress these families are experiencing.” While it may seem there is a lot of money designated for recovery,

awarded $33,700, collectively, to five organizations and six individuals. A $10,000 matching grant to the Dibble Senior Citizens Center will provide the agency with a van for its meal-delivery program and an additional $3,500 was earmarked for meals. Meals On Wheels of Norman, which provides meal delivery service to homebound individuals in Cleveland County, also received a portion of the funding, $9,000, for meal scholarships. OEC Foundation grants are made possible by the generosity of OEC members who ‘round-up’ their monthly electric bills. Individuals and nonprofit social service agencies serving in OEC’s service territory are eligible to apply for a Foundation grant.
