afety engineering company Smith Flow Control has manufactured a custom-built operating panel which enables a client to control a sequence of actuated valves. The operating panel can be used in a wide variety of applications that involve the use of actuated valves, for example to launch or receive a pig.

The panel works as a communication and proofing system to improve efficiency and safety. A typical application often includes two interlocked key units to isolate power to the panel and ensure a specific sequence of operation. Using the panel, the operator can select to close the valves. Red LED lights prove that the valves have reached their fully closed position. When all valves are closed, the operator can isolate the panel by removing the ‘A’ Key. The ‘A’ key is entered into the solenoid key unit and only when the SAS (safety and automation system) confirms all valves are closed, a permissive signal is sent to energise the solenoid and release the ‘B’ key.

ensorex’s TX2000 pH/mV Transmitter and CX2000 Conductivity/Resistivity Transmitter monitor changes in process fluids for more accurate control in a wide range of water, chemical, electronics, food production, environmental and wastewater processing applications. Both Transmitters include Multi-Cal calibration with automatic buffer recognition, two assignable isolated analogue (0/4-20mA) current outputs, two alarm/control relays with an additional wash feature, and a universal 100-240VAC power supply. CE certified, the compact NEMA 4X/IP65 enclosures can be wall mounted, installed in a panel or conveniently pipe/handrail mounted. The TX2000 has a pH measurement range of -2.00 to 16.00pH and an oxidation reduction potential (ORP) measurement range of -1999mV to 1999mV. The CX2000 has a conductivity measurement range of 0.000 uS/cm to 200.0 mS/cm and a resistivity measurement range of 0.00 to 20.00 MO • cm. Both are compatible with a number probes and sensors to fit most application requirements.

Proseal improves meatball and burger packaging
hree Proseal GT2 traysealers are helping to double packaging throughput for a range of beef burgers and meatballs at beef specialist Dovecote Park Ltd.
T The machines are installed at Dovecote’s
Stapleton factory in West Yorkshire, which focuses on the complete processing cycle from slaughter, through maturation and into retail packs, and is one of the company’s two dedicated UK operations. As well as the speed of the Proseal tray sealers, Dovecote Park cites ease of use,
quick tool
changeovers, superior reliability and excellent seal quality as key benefits of the new equipment. The GT2 incorporates Proseal’s high-speed high oxygen gas flushing for red meat, with reduced cycle time to maximise throughput.
High speeds are also
achieved through features such as servo-controlled pack transfer which creates a smooth movement for trays throughout the sealing process, and self- centring pack guides, which ensure trays are accurately positioned for sealing, a vital factor in particular after a tool change. Automatic film snap and film end detection also help to maintain consistent operation.
