According to the 2009 IMD World Competitiveness Yearbook, Canada is one of the leading economies, and the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) named it as one of the top three countries for quality of life. Ideally located between the North American marketplace and Asia, the country boasts a highly skilled work force, and low tax rates for businesses. In terms of sheer size, Canada is an


immense country, made up of many different regions, with a population of approximately 33 million mostly concentrated along the Canada-US border. The majority are living in one of four provinces: Ontario, Québec, British Columbia or Alberta. The predominantly French-speaking province of Québec promotes its own Québécois identity, and is considered to be culturally independent from the rest of an already multicultural Canada. Ontario is the most heavily populated province and accounts


for nearly 40 per cent of Canada’s population (12.7million Ontarians) with a large majority of these individuals living in the Greater Toronto Area.
