Beechfield Brands staff get funny for money
I
t was “all for onesies, and onesies for all” at Beechfield Brands HQ on Red Nose Day this year, as the companys office staff came dressed for work in their favourite onesie to raise money for the Comic Relief appeal. Each member of staff paid a fiver to take part
in Onesie Friday, and Kate in the purchasing department added to the fun by cooking some delicious cookies, all of which were sold by lunchtime. Another fund-raising activity on the day included a sponsored dance around the office. Luckily, the bonkers Doing Something Funny for Money knees-up was videoed and can be viewed at
http://youtu.be/3RYzhvofjk0.
The Beechfield Brands staff also installed a
swear box during the week leading up to Red Nose Day on March 15, with staff members fined £1 per expletive. Warehouse manager Pete McHugh put £50 in
the box on the Monday morning “to cover the week”. As it turned out, the warehouse crew were extremely busy during the week, leading to higher than average levels of stress. Unfortunately for Pete this meant that he had fully used up his credit by Tuesday lunchtime! After all the shenanigans, the staff managed
to raise £280, which was matched by the company, with a total of £560 being donated to the Comic Relief appeal.
BTC supports local air ambulance M
ulti-brand distributor, BTC activewear, realise just how important it is
to offer support to local charities and have recently made a donation to the Midlands Air Ambulance Charity. The Midlands Air Ambulance
covers the largest Air Ambulance operating region in the UK and is responsible for funding and operating three Air Ambulances. The charity was founded in
1991 and began with just one helicopter. Now, in 2013, the charity has three air ambulances, which respond to around 3,000 call-outs per year. That is approximately 10 each day! Midlands Air Ambulance
receives no Government or National Lottery funding and requires in excess of £6 million each year to keep its three air ambulances operational. All of this is based purely on donations from the public and

local businesses. BTC activewear feels it is
important to support this local charity and have donated two pallets of clothing to the MAAC Clothing Recycling Appeal. Also in 2012, one of BTC activewears employees, Adam Spittle (shown in picture) joined the Smethwick Labour Club darts team, which regularly supports the Midlands Air Ambulance Charity.

Trutex Limited, one of the best known and long established brands in the school uniform market, has acquired John Hall Schoolwear, a UK based specialist school uniform manufacturing business located in Rochdale, Lancashire. The deal further increases
Trutexs share of the bespoke school uniform market and will see them return to manufacturing garments in the UK for the first time in over a decade. In addition, it will allow the company to be more reactive to the requirements of their independent retail customer base, offering an improved service and shorter lead times on certain school- specific garments. John Hall Schoolwear will
continue to trade at its current location at Fieldhouse Industrial Estate, Rochdale as an independent business within the Trutex group, and the founders – John and Maureen Hall – will remain in their current roles. Trutexs managing director,
Matthew Easter commented: “Despite the change of ownership, it is business as usual for John Hall Schoolwear. “We already have a
longstanding and good relationship with John and Maureen (Hall) and envisage no disruption to the everyday running of the business, with existing customers continuing to receive the same high quality garments and service they have come to expect.” John Hall commented:
“Being a family run company since it was established in 1980, it was essential that any future partner understood the philosophy and strengths we have built up over the years. We are very comfortable that the management team at Trutex are on board with our aims and look forward to working together as part of the wider Trutex group.”
