Deflexion material as applied in sport apparel. Capitalizing on the properties of silicones, Deflexion materials provide impact protection in a unique textile format. Upon impact, Deflexion material dissipates the energy across the surface
away from the point of contact and is absorbed, reducing the forces transmitted through to the body or to objects. This is a known feature of certain silicone polymers due to their polymeric architecture.

rthotics is a field concerned with design, manufacture, and imple- mentation of orthopedic devices called orthoses. An orthosis can be as simple as a splint, band, helmet, or a brace that is more
complex in nature. These devices are used with body segments such as joints, extremities, even the skull, for a variety of reasons—assisting, restricting, or stopping movement, reducing forces exerted, and helping pro- mote tissue healing. Main applications of orthoses also include remolding
of the body segment for correcting deformities, its func- tion, or serving as an attachment for assistive devices. There are many different orthotic devices available for hu- man use. A variety of upper-limb orthoses such as clavic-
