measurement science for additive manufacturing, smart machine tools, five-axis coordinated motion metrology, on-machine metrology for micro/mesoscale parts, and machine tool metrology. Moylan has successfully completed the “Building the Next Generation” leadership development program at NIST.

Sathyan Subbiah, PhD Assistant Professor Nanyang Technological University Singapore

Subbiah received his BTech, MS, and PhD degrees in mechanical engineering from IIT Madras (1997), UIUC (1999), and Georgia Tech (2006), respectively. After completing his master’s degree, he worked in the automotive industry for three years. Subbiah has been an assistant professor at the Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, since 2007. His training and experiences are in the area of science and engineering behind shaping materials by mechanical material removal. Subbiah’s current research spans nano, micro, and mesoscale material removal. The 2012 Outstanding Young Manufacturing Engineers Award is named in honor

of Taylan Altan, PhD, FSME, professor and director at Ohio State University, a longtime SME member. Nominations are currently being accepted for the 2013 Outstanding Young Manufacturing Engineers. Please visit sme.org/oyme to submit your nomination.

R

ay Lugo, III, director, National Aeronautics and Space Administration, John H. Glenn Research Center, and Thomas E. Kiser, CEO and founder of Professional

Supply, Inc. (PSI), will both be keynotes at SME's 2012 Annual Conference, June 3-5 in Cleveland. Lugo will keynote on Monday, June 4 from 7:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. He will speak on the "Importance of Innovative Manufacturing to the State of Ohio and A Role for NASA Glenn in an Ohio Manufacturing Revolution," while Kiser's keynote address, "Energy Efficiency: America’s Path to Sustainability and Self Sufficiency," will take place on Tuesday, June 5 from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Lugo is responsible for planning, organizing, and directing the activities required in accomplishing the missions assigned to the center. Prior to this appointment, he served as Glenn’s deputy director from 2007-10. Glenn is engaged in research, technology and systems development programs in space propulsion, space power, space communications, aeronautical propulsion, and microgravity sciences. Kiser, who is known as “America’s Energy Coach,” shares his brand of energy innovation as a professor of practice in sustainable energy at Arizona State University to develop interdisciplinary energy curriculum. In addition, his company, PSI, has created award-winning demonstrations of energy strategies and technology. In 2012, Kiser teamed up with an Ohio-based metals manufacturing company, Worthington Industries, Inc., as part of his push to take PSI global. ME
