Silenced duo from Takeuchi

Two new silenced hydraulic breakers have been introduced by Takeuchi. The newcomers are the TKB52-S, which weighs 80g and is compatible with the manufacturer’s 800kg to 1.8 tonne compact excavators, and the 120kg TKB72-S that is suitable for 1.3 to 2.7 tonne minis. Both have been specially produced for Takeuchi by Sandvik in Finland.

Incorporating a narrow design, an integrated membrane type accumulator and a single lower tool bushing, the breakers have low LwA sound power levels of 119 and 123dB respectively, and impact rate ranges of 1300 to 2500 and 1500 to 2600 blows/min.

The M31-G portable air compressor from Kaeser in Germany received its UK exhibition debut on the HPC Compressed Air Systems stand. HPC Portables Product Manager, Gerry

McGettigan, said it has been specially developed with an integral 6.5kVA GTS synchronous generator to provide simultaneous electrical power and a free air delivery of 2.0m3

/min (71cfm)

in order to power a heavy breaker.

Driven by a 32.3hp Kubota diesel engine, the M31-G has Kaeser’s screw air end with flow-optimised Sigma Profile rotors. Complete with a 40 litre fuel tank and Al-Ko trailer gear, it has an operational weight of

660kg and can be supplied with either a steel canopy or a rotationally moulded polyethylene enclosure in a number of colours.

Marcrist keeps cool

New products from Marcrist International include the PG850 and PG750X tile drilling systems, designed for professional and occasional users respectively, for drilling ceramics, marble, granite, grade 5 porcelain and other hard materials. Marcrist UK’s Gareth Matthews, pictured (right) with colleagues Tracy McConnell and Garry Hicks, said the drills are designed to be self-sharpening and to remain cool in use, to enable faster performance and greater productivity. They can also be used with cordless drills, and are available in kit form.

Also displayed was the new VC750 rip-cut carbide blade that has been developed for use with a cut-off saw to deal with tree roots, small trees, decking, railway sleepers, plastics, bricks and other materials.

Buckhurst unveils pipe crushers

Buckhurst Plant Hire promoted two new metallic pipe crushers designed to be carried on the dipper arm of a small mini excavator, with one being prominently shown on a special display stand. The smaller model weighs 33kg and is suitable for crushing old 5in diameter pipes, whilst its bigger brother weighs 58kg and will deal with redundant 6in and 8in mains pipes.

Both attachments, which are being made at Buckhurst’s Rossendale facility, can be used on 1.5 tonne minis with an auxiliary hydraulic flow of 80 litre/min at a pressure of 180 bar. Buckhurst also operates a national hire fleet and reports considerable interest in the pipe crushers from utility contractors.
