EXECUTIVE HIRE SHOW REVIEW

Ricoh review

Once again, industry suppliers chose the Executive Hire Show as the ideal place to launch their new products and services. EHN reports on some of the highlights.

JCB wheels in latest compacts

The timing of the Show worked well for JCB as it introduces ‘small platform’ versions of its new generation skid steer and compact loaders. Visitors could check out the new 155 ECO skid steer loader, with its larger cab and improved visibility. Fitted with a 60hp Perkins engine, it weighs 2844kg and has an operating capacity of 703kg. Like other new small platform loaders - the smaller 612kg capacity 135 wheeled skid steer machine and the 680kg capacity 150T compact tracked loader - the 155 features JCB’s single-sided Powerboom Loader arm. The manufacturer says this side arm arrangement enables the provision of an easy to enter nearside door.

Euro Towers steps ahead

New from Euro Towers are the Step Fold Podiums 1 and 2, providing platform levels of 1 and 1.2m, and 1.2 and 1.4m respectively. They incorporate a telescopic guardrail frame to enable the user to climb easily on to the step platforms and to gain straightforward access to and from the work platform. Designed to fit through standard doorways, the products fold flat for storage and transportation. This October, Euro Towers will celebrate

21 years since its formation, and to mark the occasion during the exhibition the company offered special Show-prices on all its mobile tower products. “The Show was great and we were very busy throughout,” said MD Roger Verallo. “On the first day, staff on the stand were working non-stop and we didn’t have a break from talking to visitors until well after 4pm. That hasn’t happened to us at an exhibition for years.”

Also seen outside the South entrance to the Ricoh Arena was the recently upgraded 1CX small backhoe loader. Weighing just under 3 tonne, this machine gains an enhanced cab and a new Power Management System. New options include servo backhoe controls, longer front loader arms and an extending dipper arm to improve the digging depth and discharge reach of the backhoe.

Making its debut at the Show was the new Diesel 6000E Ultimate from SDMO Energy, a 6kVA super silent, bunded site generator. It incorporates an engine manufactured by SDMO group subsidiary, Kohler, which is backed by a two year warranty. It can be fitted with automatic start and can be operated remotely via an appropriate mobile device. New also is the Perform 3000LPG, which can be powered by petrol or LPG gas, the latter option being seen as ideal for sites where the risk of fuel spillage has to be avoided. It has a Kohler engine with a three year warranty. The stand display included the new Yamaha iPro 2000 and iPro 3000 petrol inverter generators, offering outputs of 2 and 3kVA respectively. Both incorporate an auto-idle facility, whereby the engine idles if no demand is detected, and the spike-free power generated is suitable for use with sensitive electronic equipment. SDMO Energy’s Clive Dix believes the new machines will appeal to hirers and their customers who are seeking more environmentally friendly equipment.
