IGN POSTING RETURNS
NCGA members playing in a state that does not use GHIN will again have the opportunity to post scores using the International Golf Network (IGN). IGN service provides an easy exchange of scores between golf associations who use different handicap vendors. Contact the NCGA to link your GHIN number to your non-GHIN posting number to begin posting scores wherever you play.
NCGA Members Ace Same Hole
Sandy Woodruff and Marianne Towersey both aced the par-3 eighth at Pasatiempo while playing together in late 2011.
Woodruff, the NCGA Senior Women’s champion, knocked in the shot from 150 yards only to be matched on the next tee shot by Towersey, a former NCGA Senior Women’s champion. While both ladies have impressive pedigrees and have competed in various USGA championships, the National Hole in One Registry lists the odds of two people in the same foursome acing the same hole as one
in 17 million. Someone has a better chance of being struck by lightning
twice in an 80-year lifetime (one in nine million odds).
NCGA Foundation Club Cup Pro-Am Kaiser Permanente
The NCGA Foundation held its inaugu-
ral Club Cup Pro-Am at Silverado Resort in Napa in October. Proceeds from the event help youth in Northern California develop life skills and values through the Founda- tion’s Youth on Course program. The event kicked off with a dinner at
the Napa Valley Reserve that included a Q&A with U.S. Senior Open champion Olin Browne. The following morning three- person teams paired with a local professional with one-ball gross and one-ball net count- ing for the team score on Silverado’s newly renovated North Course. The Kaiser Permanente team won
the gross title while one of the San Jose Country Club teams finished second. The
Lake Merced
Lake Merced team captured the net title and Mega Western Sales placed second. Jason Schmuhl of Windsor GC fired an
impressive nine-under 63 to win the profes- sional division. Schmuhl’s 63 ties Johnny Miller for the course record on Silverado’s North Course. Sponsors for the event include the Qvale
Family Fund, First Republic Bank, Gold- man Sachs and The Napa Valley Reserve. Special thanks go to Clos du Val, Franklin Templeton Investments, Kaiser Perman- ente, Martin Golf, Mega Western Sales and Silverado Resort. More than 90% of every dollar donated
to Youth on Course is invested in youth- related programs.
