We packed up the car (now overflowing with souvenirs and an alarming amount of empty Scottish fudge wrappers) and left the Lovat in the rear view and headed south for the journey home.
Though we didn’t find the monster, we met so many wonderful people during our search that it didn’t matter. We hope our words and photos have done them justice. Because the most important thing we learned on this trip was that the real magic of Loch Ness doesn’t necessarily lie beneath the surface.
After a scenic drive to back to Edinburgh, we enjoyed one ‘last supper’ as a roaming family that included copious amounts of wine and pasta. We ended the evening with some slightly-intoxicated souvenir shopping (resist the cashmere!!), and a heavenly deep-fried Mars bar cut into three perfect little bites.
What can we say other than thank-you Scotland. And which way to the gym?
