FLEET MANAGEMENT

Peugeot explains more about its carbon-cutting fleet solutions: the 3008 Hybrid4 and 207 Oxygo range.

C

limate change as a result of ris- ing carbon emissions poses a direct

threat to public health, with scientists and medical professionals predicting an in- crease in deaths resulting from heat stroke, an increase in cardiovascular and respira- tory difficulties, and even the increasing exposure of a warmer UK to diseases like malaria, among other severe health issues.

As the UK’s largest employer, the NHS is guilty of emitting more carbon than any other part of the public sector – but is also at the forefront of trying to tackle the problem.

One way in which the organisation as a whole, as well as individual managers , can counteract this is to cut the carbon emis- sions from their own vehicles. Peugeot is a

leader when it comes to producing low CO2 emission vehicles, and is the top-selling brand for electric cars.

The new Peugeot 3008 HYbrid4 is the world’s first full diesel hybrid, combining a diesel engine with electric power. Fur- thermore, with this innovative and ground- breaking

technology sitting within the

award-winning Peugeot 3008 Crossover, there are benefits all round. It will be a key player in the fleet arena, while also appeal- ing to demanding, technophile individual customers in search of a rewarding and original vehicle.

The car has four operating modes to max- imise efficiency, including the 100% elec-

BEAT THE CONGESTION CHARGE

If you’re looking for a hatchback with style and substance, the 207 range is an excel- lent solution. The new Oxygo and Oxygo+ has CO2 emissions from only 98g/km.

207 Oxygo models are designed to pro- duce the lowest CO2 emissions possible within the range without sacrificing the re- newed levels of comfort, convenience and interior styling. This is achieved by using a combination of efficient engine technolo- gies, including Peugeot’s HDi 92 FAP die- sel engine, energy saver tyres and aero- dynamic styling. The vehicle also comes with huge financial benefits, including zero vehicle excise duty and exemption from the London Congestion Zone.

tric mode, which solely uses the electric motor and results in a total absence of noise and emissions. There is also an auto mode which automatically selects the most efficient blend of diesel and electric power to provide optimal driving for fuel con- sumption and dynamic performance. Us- ing this combined cycle, the 3008 HYbrid4 can deliver 74.4 MPG and emits just 99g/ km of CO2

. The 7” colour display in the car

maintains the driver’s environmental and economic awareness by providing informa- tion on the car’s use of energy.

It is not only the environmental benefits of the 3008 HYbrid4 that make it an ideal vehicle for NHS executives and fleet man-

agers to choose. With the severe financial pressures on the NHS, it is equally impor- tant that their vehicles offer good value for money. The 3008 HYbrid4 will achieve up to 977 miles on a full tank of fuel when run- ning on its combined cycle. With no Vehi- cle Excise Duty (VED) to pay, the business case builds further, without forcing a com- promise on comfort, convenience, or style.

Potential customers can expect both envi- ronmental friendliness and technological sophistication to create an enjoyable driv- ing experience, without sacrificing style and comfort. The rear spoiler has a two- tone finish with a high gloss black section, adding a sleek sophistication to the vehicle. Inside the car too are all the marks of a top- of-the-range vehicle, with a raised driving position and expansive fascia panel.

Peugeot’s average fleet CO2 emissions have

dropped by more than 20% in the last 15 years, and the company aims to reduce these further by up to 25% in the next few years. Peugeot is therefore the perfect vehi- cle manufacturer to look to for progressive movement in this increasingly important area, and the 3008 HYbrid4 itself won its first award five months before it went on sale in the UK, being awarded Diesel Car Magazine’s ‘Best Eco Car of 2011’. It also won in the SUV category of the What Car? Green Awards 2011.
