Music & Art | HUNGARY Interview with Janos Georg

How did you come up with the idea for the Ark of Dreams?

The basic idea of the Ark of Dreams is to provide an opportunity for everyone to make their artistic, creative dream come true. I remembered the tough decisions I had to make to be able to hold on to my dream — that was one of the reasons I decided to build the Ark of Dreams. Most of the people do not have the time, resources, and freedom to pursue their creative ambitions. I believe there are millions of sketches, drawings, paintings, poems, novels, songs, and all kinds of creative ideas hidden at the bottom of drawers all around the world, waiting to be believed in.

Talk about the inspiration natural of the Ark of Dreams?

What I believe is so great about the Ark of Dreams is that it’s a very simple and pure idea, and yet it has a potential to become a truly powerful source for self-empowerment for those who have an artistic dream, no matter where they live or what they do in the world.

In addition to its simple function as a reminder or a wake- up call to hold onto your dreams, all the people around the world who decide to join the Ark of Dreams, by joining, create this initiative’s potential to become a historical joint artwork that embraces the entire planet.

What was your ultimate goal when you were creating this project?

These days, the majority of people are either forced or programmed unnoticeably to live their lives with motives and purposes, among which there’s not a lot of space for dreams — and there’s less and less space for true values. The world is inundated with bad news, negative attitudes, and fake content that numbs us out, disabling us from being conscious and from seeing clearly what really matters in life. The initiative of the Ark of Dreams is one of the possible ways, I believe, to rise above all the heavy, grey waves of negativity. By holding onto our dreams, as we are building the Ark of Dreams together, we contribute to building a new Earth.

What “desired masterpiece” do you want to emerge from this project?

The artwork that is submitted to the Ark of Dreams will, together, become one joint Artwork of the world that merges all art forms into one coherent whole. And the fruit of our joint creative efforts will be presented at the event of the World Premier in about a year.

What the World Premier will be like depends on how the initiative of the Ark of Dreams is evolving. It can become a gigantic exhibition or something utterly new that we can’t even imagine now, as we are taking the first steps. For sure, it will be an unprecedented, wonderful, memorable event that makes all the participants’ artistic dreams come true.

Your background information

I’m Jon Georg. I had a childhood dream to write music that touches everybody’s heart all around the world. Just like most of us, I put my dreams aside ”for a while” and studied hard and then worked hard to make it in the ”real world.” Two decades later I found myself living a modest but comfortable life as a teacher, surrounded by wonderful people and by lots of good things to be grateful for, and yet something was missing. That was when I realized that I got drifted away from my dream though it was still there in my heart. I decided to give my dream a chance. To be able to devote all my time, energy and resources to music and to my dream to embrace the whole world, I reorganized my life, much to the shock and astonishment of the people around me. I totally understood them. It doesn’t seem right in the eyes of the world to leave behind your career for a dream. The idea of a nation-wide music project came to me and I devoted a whole year to that. As a result, I published the music dvd ”A Smile from Life” in Hungary before Christmas of 2009. That felt good. I knew I was on the right path. I spent the next 11 months figuring out what a possible next step could be. In an interesting way, just when I sat back to rest a little after months of research and experimenting, I found the seed of the idea of the Ark of Dreams. It felt good from the moment I found it in my heart.
