Sleep easy with Kabco

Kabco Products has developed a mobile ‘sleep over’ cabin offering the facilities of its existing mobile welfare units, with the addition of two beds and a shower. An automatic X-Gen power module is designed to ensure that the generator, which runs at 68db, is only used in order to charge the on-board battery bank and to operate heavy load appliances such as a kettle. Being automatic, an operator only needs to switch on such an item and the generator will run for ten minutes, providing the necessary power before turning off. The battery bank can also send a signal to the generator when charging is required, so that constant power is available in the cabin. Heating is provided by a diesel heater which will run for two hours before turning itself

off, preventing it being left on inadvertently, as well as reducing carbon emissions and noise. The cabin incorporates an air suspension system that allows the structure to be lowered to the floor for security, as well increasing the ride height of the trailer so that it can be towed off road using a suitable vehicle. The rear of the cabin provides seating for four people, along with storage facilities, table, sink, microwave, kettle, cool box and an opening window. Access to the generator, running gear and air suspension is from outside the cabin via secure service hatches.

AJC Trailers targets carbon footprints

AJC Trailers’ Easycabin Static Eco 28 is of robust steel construction and provides canteen facilities for up to 12 people, along with a drying room, toilet and office/store room. The integral plant room houses the 3.4kVA diesel generator, the 12V system and diesel heating, plus an optional toilet waste incinerator and 800 litre holding tank. It also incorporates auto low voltage sensors to start the generator automatically as required.

The Eco 28 is designed for low fuel consumption and a reduced carbon footprint, and is claimed to use 18 litres of fuel in a typical 40-hour working week. AJC also undertakes cabin refurbishments for hire companies and can retro- fitting the 12V technology to existing static units.

CRH develops green solution

CRH Plant (Cotswold Roller Hire) has for several years supplied mobile welfare units to the rail and construction industries, with GenQuip’s 360 Groundhog featuring prominently in its fleet. The hirer says that, with interest increasing in finding more environmentally friendly alternatives to continuously running petrol and diesel generator powered models, it has developed a 12V control system to use with the units. The system has an auto-start facility which starts the generator on demand to provide power for a kettle and a microwave, as well as charging the on-board battery. The 12V system powers low consumption LED lighting via passive infrared (PIR) controls, with the diesel generator running the heating and hot water system.
