MELTING, POURING AND HEAT TREAT
ABP Induction, North Brunswick, N.J. IFM9 Induction Furnace • The 30-ton, 18MW medium frequency melting fur- nace has a production capacity rate of 25 tons/hour. The displayed machine will be installed in India-M/S Viraj Steel, Mumbai, India.
• The furnace has a tap-to-tap time of 60 minutes and an exhaust system meeting European environmental standards.
Can-Eng Furnace, Niagara Falls, Canada
Basketless Heat Treating • The company’s updated basketless heat treating system for aluminum products needing process heating or ther- mal processing saves space and energy.
• The system offers T4, T5, T6 and T7 thermal process- ing for sand, permanent mold and thin-walled castings and wrought products. Better airflow through heating chambers improves products’ thermal profiles.
CMI Novacast, Des Plaines, Ill.
Electromagnetic Pumps • The pumps are suitable for metals at temperatures up to 1,472F (800C).
• Originally developed for the aluminum casting industry, the pumps now are available for zinc, sodium, mercury, potas- sium, NaK (sodium and potassium alloy) and magnesium.
ABP showcased an induction furnace with ecotop hood for improved energy efficiency.
General Kinematics, Crystal Lake, Ill.
Vibratory Charge Feeder/Dross and Slag Reclamation • The feeder features a new retractable furnace nose piece specifically designed for applications that require splash-free operation under odd circumstances, such as varying levels between platform and furnace or a unique furnace lid design. General Kinematics displayed a feeder custom-designed for gray and ductile iron foundry VDP Fonderia, Schio, Italy, to feed a 12-ton medium frequency furnace.
This General Kinematics Two-Mass Charge Feeder was sold to VDP Fonderia, Schio, Italy. 38 | MODERN CASTING August 2011
