MOLDING AND CASTING EQUIPMENT

DISA, Oswego, Ill. Automatic Molding Equipment • The DISA 231FAST vertical molding machine adds 45 molds per hour to the standard speed of 510 molds per hour, offering the ability to achieve 555 uncored molds per hour. Customers can choose from six mold sizes and four molding speed options in the DISA 131/231 range. Metal Technologies, Auburn, Ind., announced it will be taking delivery of two of the machines in 2012.

• The DISA Match 32 x 32 horizontal molding machine produces up to 100 uncored molds and 80

Castronics • The institute has developed a method to cast elec- tronic and adaptronic functional components, such as RFID transponders, into metal components. After casting, the embedded electronic component is protected against contamination, damage or loss during subsequent machining processes, assembly and operational use.

• Embedded piezo-sensors can measure compressive and tensile stresses, deformation and vibrations inside the casting so the life cycle of the part can be monitored.
