DENVER BOTANIC GARDENS AT CHATFIELD
CLICK FOR VIDEO
Since its acquisition in the 1970s, Denver Botanic Gardens at Chatfield suffered from a lack of direction and focus. The property was viewed as a potential larger version of the York Street site. That changed in 2005 with the development of an effective master development plan that emphasized native plants and the popularity of entertainment derived from farming activities like the Pumpkin Festival and Corn Maze. The addition of the Community Supporting Agriculture program in 2010 adds a facet to Chatfield that will quickly draw more volunteers and supporters. The transformation of this satellite site is by no means complete at this time, but it is well underway in developing its own identity as an agricultural showplace nestled in the suburban fabric of the south metro area.
