PPM offering new AC-DC high voltage programmable power systems
Pulse Power and Measurement (PPM) has announced a new line of benchtop high voltage power systems from UltraVolt, the BT Series. The Series offers flexible output voltages and polarity for the benchtop high voltage power supply market. Each system houses a high voltage power supply from UltraVolt’s microsize/micropower product line (the XS, US, V, M, or D Series) and operates in either local or remote mode. Standard features include a clear output-voltage display, universal AC input, positive or negative output polarity, tight line/load regulation, low ripple, excellent stability, overload protection, and optional shielded HV output cable. BT Series power systems are optimal for design engineers in research and laboratory fields with applications such as photomultiplier tubes (PMT), photodiodes (PD), high voltage testing, and avalanche photo diodes (APD). "This latest addition to the
UltraVolt power supply range fills an important gap in PPM's programmable power supply product range. With programmable products now ranging from 6V to 300kV and 100mW to >200kW, PPM has a solution for almost any test or
OEM application." commented Phil Surman, Business Development Manager at PPM. "UltraVolt has supported customer
needs to have turnkey operation of our high voltage modules in R&D, Engineering, and test applications with the 1 to 4 channel HV rack since 2004," said James Morrison, CEO & Co-Founder. "Users have asked us for a smaller, less expensive turnkey solution for a single UltraVolt module to be operated on the bench top. The new BT (benchtop) does just that. Users can operate single units or units stacked side-by-side or one-on-one for as many outputs as needed for a project. The BT Series is also economically a better value for users not needing a rack mount unit, yet features the same high quality and high performance." BT Series systems are single channeled and have output voltages from 0 to 100V up to 0 to 6kV. Power levels range from 0 to 100mW up to 0 to 6W. Input voltage is a universal 85-264VAC.

New range of ultra compact power supplies from XP Power
XP Power’s new ECP40 series of ultra low profile compact open frame 40 Watt AC/DC power supplies have been designed for industrial or medical applications. Within the range a total of 14 models are available comprising single, dual and triple output models. Measuring 76.2 x 50.8 x 23.0 mm (3 x 2 x 0.9
inches) for the single output models and 88.9 x 50.8 x 26.0 mm (3.5 x 2 x 1.02 inches) for the multi output models, the low profile units provide a high power density starting at 7.4 Watts per cubic inch. This power density rating is believed to be the best in class compared to similar units in this power range. The ECP40 is also highly efficient, up to 90%, and
has a no load power consumption of less than 0.3W, aiding designers ensure their end equipment meets the stringent criteria required by leading energy efficiency standards such as Energy Star and the EU’s ErP directive. Single output models provide output voltages from
+5 to + 48 VDC. Dual output units offer combinations of +5 VDC and + 12, + 15 or 24 VDC outputs. Triple output units add +12, -12 or -15 VDC options. All models accommodate the wide universal input range of 85 – 264 VAC. The ECP40 also features a peak load capability that allows the power supply to deliver up to 130% of rated power for a maximum of 30 seconds. This makes the series ideal for designs that require a high power output for a short duration, such as starting a motor, without having a specify a higher rated, larger and more costly power supply. Suiting most operating temperature environments, from -10 to 70°C, the convection cooled units require no additional heat sinking or a forced air flow making them ideal for designs where space is at a premium. Full output power is available up to 50°C. The ECP40 series meet medical safety standard IEC60601-1 and the IEC60950 specification for IT and
industrial equipment. The units also comply with the EN55022 level B standard for both conducted and radiated emissions without the need for additional filtering components. Overvoltage, overload and short- circuit protection features are included as standard across the whole range. The units are available from Farnell or direct from XP
Power and come with a 3 year warranty.
