Dear Mr. Taylor,
I recently read your article “Battle over the Olympia
Waterfront” in the latest issue of 48° North magazine. There
are a number of factual errors in your story.

committee, I feel obligated to point out these inaccuracies.
Frankly, I am surprised that you did not contact the agency
prior to publication of the article. I think you would have
benefitted from doing so.
General Administration and the committee are
conducting a thorough analysis of possible future
management options for Capitol Lake. Our work has
produced numerous scientifically peer-reviewed studies on
all types of current and potential management issues. These
studies and more user-friendly summaries are available on
the General Administration website - http://www.ga.wa.
gov/CapitolLake/. I think it would have been helpful had
you pointed readers to this Web site.
As the time draws near when the committee makes
a final recommendation to General Administration on
the lake’s future, the public will be asked to weigh in on
the issue. It will be vitally important that the public fully
understands the issues involved.
Therefore, I respectfully request that you publish
the corrections included in the attached document in the
next issue of the magazine, so your readers have a more
complete understanding of this complicated issue.
