The Great Outdoors
A FAVOURITE WALK
Fell walking is, of course, a prime attraction and there are many walks leading
directly out of Keswick. This walk over Walla Crag gives spectacular views across
Derwentwater.
WALLA CRAG VIA CASTLEHEAD AND ASHNESS BRIDGE
Distance: Approx. 6.5 miles / 10.5km
Time: 3.5 hours plus stops
Diffi culty: Moderate rocky paths with some boggy patches
Map: We recommend a 1:25,000 North West Area OS Map
The walk is a relatively easy one starting
from the Moot Hall in Keswick. The
route takes you via Ambleside Road
BEST FOOT FORWARD!
and Springs Road to the summit of
Castlehead. From here you descend to
Ever onward and upward. When it comes
Derwentwater and follow the shore line
to fell walking or low level walking
as far as Great Wood. A path through the
Keswick is the ideal base. And it’s all free
