Steve Tuttle, TASER VP Strategic Communications, stated, “Evi- dence.com is a cohesive ecosystem built to incorporate all digital evidence, not just Axon body camera videos. It’s an end-to-end digital evidence management solution that not only stores date, but also effi ciently manages and shares that data, which is vi- tally important for prosecutors.” Tuttle stated that they offer interview room technology, CAD and RMS, photos, Axon Fleet in-car cameras, and can story other dash cam videos and even CCTV videos and Evidence Capture straight from cell phones. The mobile app Axon View wirelessly connects with Axon cameras, providing instant playback of un- folding events from the fi eld, in the fi eld. The app’s live display ensures the camera is well-placed, and the playback function helps eliminate the ‘he said, she said’ on the spot. Every product from Smart Weapons to body-worn cameras to

the digital-evidence management system integrates seamlessly with one another. Axon Convert can view a wide range of pro- prietary CCTV videos even if the videos aren’t Axon videos and the system can also auto-activate the Axon cameras. Tuttle stated, “The infl ux of data created by video evidence, matched with the growing pains of merging new technology with pre-existing systems, has revealed a need for simplifi ed, comprehensive evidence management that traditional DEMS cannot offer. Evidence.com was built to answer the data chal- lenges of today’s law enforcement environment in a manner that is secure, scalable, and cost-effective.” Evidence.com collects upload content in any fi le format from any

device. It transfers data, automatically ingesting content from Axon cameras and hard drives. It manages by keeping information orga- nized and tagging it with the correct metadata and fi nding evidence quickly with simple search features for retrieval and shares access to specifi c people, or shares content with a secure link. Features include fi le support that manages all types of data, including body-worn video, in-car video, interview room video, CCTV, photographs, audio, documents and more, with CJIS- compliant storage, encryption, multi-factor authentication, and real-time threat detection. Integrations increase user compliance and save time and

money with automatic metadata tagging and automated re- tention schedules based on your CAD/RMS. The Prosecutor Edition seamlessly shares evidence with the industry’s only scalable solution for prosecutors. FOIA requests are streamlined by automating the video redaction process. All products comply with industry standards like the FBI CJIS Se-

curity Policy, and exceed them, going the extra mile with protecting their facilities with biometric controls, regular vulnerability tests, and a seven-fi gure cyber-insurance policy. Tuttle stated, “That’s how you maintain trust.” Redundant data centers ensure maximum availability of data and frequent encrypted back-ups prevent data loss. While Evidence.com works perfectly for smaller agencies, they excel at the ability to scale it to major city law enforcement agencies. Of the 50 largest local U.S. police departments, 26 have chosen the Axon/Evidence.com platform. Smaller agencies ben- efi t because the system is built for pricing at any size with all of the same benefi ts as those of the large agencies. Speed is key and videos can be uploaded simply by the ‘dock

and walk’ method. Reviewing the videos can be done simply by indicating specifi c clips, even with a smartphone after an event while it is fresh on everyone’s mind. Redaction is greatly im- proved; now a three-click maneuver by simply indicating the object to be redacted and noting the begin and end time and sharing with prosecutors is easy. Tuttle reported that it’s more about the back end than the hard-

ware. “The hardware is key, but often the most overlooked item is the back end. Make sure you know you have a secure, robust system that can share this data with prosecutors. A ‘cloud storage’ doesn’t do that and if someone thinks Evidence.com is just a storage, they’re missing the most important facets of why the back end is so crucial. It’s about having a true management system that is built for tomorrow—not today.” He noted the solution has scalability, “We’re talking about petabytes of storage capability (even small agencies over time will eventually have a tidal wave of data).”
