A postcard from Europe Dutch artist Sabine Heine illustrated “The New Urban Advantage” [Spring/ Summer 2014], which explored new innovations helping cities become healthier than ever before.
After reading this, my conscience is not as troubled as I once was about raising my children in a big city. The article showed me a totally new aspect about city-dwellers and their health advantages. Thank you for that! Sabine Heine, Rotterdam, Netherlands

This brief, clear, memorable depic- tion brilliantly captures The Trust for Public Land’s work. Congratula- tions to those who do the work and to those who produced this stunning 16 · LAND&PEOPLE · FALL/WINTER 2014
Berry good thinking People are celebrating The Trust for Public Land’s successful conservation of one of the largest unprotected proper- ties on the California coast: a former dairy farm just north of Santa Cruz. Today, the land is home to Swanton Berry Farm (profiled in the Spring/ Summer 2013 issue) as well as miles of hiking, biking, and equestrian trails— with an ocean view.
Thank you to The Trust for Public Land and the Swanton Berry Farm for being wise instead of following the naysayers. I have lived in Hollister, California, since 1978 and know how fortunate we are for the courageous, outstanding organic farmers in our Northern California region. Organic farming is the traditional way our an- cestors thrived: it nurtures our health and welfare.
The Trust for Public Land’s protec- tion of thousands of acres for hiking, inspiration, and agriculture is a great success for the environment and all things living. Let’s keep these positive actions moving! Jeannette Langstaff, via the blog
Thank you @tpl_org for 6,000 acres of California coast and redwoods which are now @BLMNational public lands!
