THE TRUST FOR PUBLIC LAND’S WORK IS UNIQUE BECAUSE ... the American experi- ence is centered around place: you can’t separate the story of the American people from the story of the land. The Trust for Public Land is preserving that connec- tion and ensuring that outdoor experi- ences—whether learning to ride your bike in a nearby park or visiting a farm where your food is grown—remain a part of our culture.

I JOINED THE BOARD BECAUSE … I’ve seen the difference that The Trust for Public Land makes in people’s lives. So many Americans still lack outdoor places to play or connect to nature. Being part of closing that gap is intensely rewarding.

MY PROUDEST ACCOMPLISHMENT AS A BOARD MEMBER WAS … I get inspired every time I speak with a person who has been affected by our work. Their sense of accomplishment and ownership, the passion with which they advocate for their special places—that’s incredibly powerful.

I SUPPORT THE TRUST FOR PUBLIC LAND BECAUSE … my wife and I believe the time and money we put into this organization have the potential to help more Ameri- cans, in more communities, in a broader variety of ways than any other conserva- tion investment we could make.

THE KEY CHALLENGE FACING THE TRUST FOR PUBLIC LAND IS … to encourage more peo- ple to get outdoors. Nearby nature makes communities healthier, more livable, and more vibrant. Parks and protected lands give more people reason to get out of their chairs and away from their screens— and get outside.

I FIRST FELL IN LOVE WITH THE NATURAL WORLD … growing up just a few minutes from the beach. I could walk for miles, scrambling over rocks and exploring tide pools, learning the names of the creatures I found, and connecting to the rhythms of the tides and winds. Nature is still where I go to recharge, relax, and let my curiosity lead me. Everyone deserves the opportunity to experience that.
