hree incredibly successful junior bon- spiels took place in 2015-16. Te USW- CA strives to support the development
and competitive divisions that allow for growth, learning, and camaraderie with peers. Te three regional bonspiels together hosted more than 60 junior teams. Broomstones Curling Club hosted the East region’s bonspiel, and had 12 teams in two divisions. Te Hunter Clawson rink, which included Cody Clouser, Caleb Clawson and Andy Dunnam, came out on top. Te Green Bay Curling Club held the Central
region bonspiel, with 20 teams participating. Te winner was the Michael Elwing team out of Wau- watosa. His teammates included Ryan Elwing, Connor Hipke, and Tyler Hipke. Te runner-up was the Suzanna Viau rink from Stevens Point,

Circuit continues upward growth

In 2015-16, we are proud to report that a record 24 bonspiels joined the Circuit; in addition, many clubs chose to host or create new women’s bonspiels outside of the Circuit. Tis means that U.S. curlers have had an unprecedented number of women’s events to choose from, in addition to popular mixed and open formats. Circuit bonspiels provide high levels of competition and camaraderie — as

well as the added thrill of earning points and winning money. But, we know that people choose bonspiels for all kinds of reasons — tradition, proximity, theme, format, destination. With new clubs forming every year, curling is attracting new people as never before. With so many new clubs and new curlers, plus the rapid growth of opens, the USWCA is thrilled that so many women have chosen to grow as athletes and expand their circles through Circuit events. Te USWCA Circuit committee is already making plans for 2016-17. We hope to see you on the ice! Look for 2015-16 Circuit results in the next issue of the Curling News.
