USA fi nishes sixth at World Wheelchair Championship

China to fi nish sixth at the 2016 World Wheel- chair Championship in Lucerne, Switzerland. Patrick McDonald (Madison, Wis.) and team-

mates Steve Emt (Hebron, Conn.), Jimmy Joseph (New Hartford, N.Y.), Penny Greely (Green Bay, Wis.), and Justin Marshall (Evansville, Wis.) needed to win their fi nal round robin game to force a tiebreaker with Korea to get to the play- off s at the Lucerne Curling Club. But the game against China’s Yulong Sun got away from the Americans in the second half as the Chinese loaded the scoreboard. China struck fi rst with a deuce in the opening
end but the U.S. countered with two points right away. China then scored three points in the third and used the last rock advantage in the fi ſt h and seventh ends to score four points each time in the rout of the American team. T e U.S. team had an up-and-down week and
could not string together enough wins to make a run for the medals this year. T e U.S., however, is in great shape to make the 12-team Paralympic fi eld in 2018 aſt er garnering more qualifi cation points at this event. Q
