SOUTH-TEC 2015 PREVIEW

Mist Separators New Green Line oil mist separators can handle all applica- tions using a coolant or straight oil in the manufacturing process. “Disk stack” separation uses conical disks that are attached to a rotor spun at a high rpm. The disk stack sucks the oil mist from the machine tool cabinet and into the sepa- rator where the particles are separated and channeled back to the machine tool for reuse. This separation

purifi es the air to 100% down to 1 µm. For smaller particles a HEPA-fi lter is used, ultimately providing 99.97% purifi ed air that can be vented into the workshop. 3nine USA Inc. Ph: 918-266-0113 Web site: www.3nine.com

Safe Toolholding System

Safe-Lock toolholding system uses a pin locking system in the ID of a tool- holder that engages with a groove on the OD of a cut- ting tool. This new system is designed to completely eliminate tool pullout, an is- sue commonly experienced in rough milling applica- tions. TIR under 3 μm and repeatable balance enable faster metal removal rates, better surface fi nishes and ensure the longevity of the machine tools spindle. Safe-Lock is available in both shrink-fi t and collet- chuck-style holders. To date, 12 of the world’s largest leading round tool manufacturers have become licensed partners in the Safe-Lock system. Metrology Meets Tomography The Metrotom 800 computer tomograph was specifi cally developed for 3D measurements and structural inspections of complex parts made of plastic, composite materials and

ceramic. With the help of metrotomography which combines metrology and tomography, this measuring system enables both the dimensional measurement of the geometry and the inspection of the interior structure of parts up to 150 mm. The O-Inspect 322 unites contact scanning and opti- cal measuring and expands the range of CMM applications. The NEX series of surface and round- ness instruments

allows both types of measurements to be completed with one system. Surfcom NEX offers a single hybrid detector to measure surface texture and contour at the same time. Rondcom NEX offers best-in-class spindle accuracy and allows optional surface roughness measurements in the horizontal, vertical, and radial axes. Advanced Composite Cutting Tool Material Bidemics are a new class of cutting tool grades developed for machining high temp alloys like INCO718. Bidemics have the potential to achieve productivity with up to 1600 sfm (487 m/min), with results in some cases of two to three times tool life as whisker ceramics de- pending on the cutting condi- tions. Two new grades of Bidemics include JX1 for all non-scale

machining and JP2, a coated multi-tipped brazed grade for semifi nishing and fi nishing applications. The Splash Series tooling is for all types of Swiss lathes with high-pressure coolant systems. The Splash Series includes toolholders with coolant through for front turning, back turning, grooving, ID boring bars and cut-off. NTK Cutting Tools Ph: 248-797-0417 Web site: www.ntktech.com
