See How It All Adds Up

n this issue you have the opportunity to read about the state of the additive manufacturing industry. Derived in part from the Wohlers Report 2016, that article asserts that the industry is alive and well.

You will be able to see and hear the proof of that state- ment at RAPID 2016, May 16–19, in the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, FL. The center’s West Building will feature more than 190 ex- hibits showcasing the technologies and processes involved in printing and scanning for the additive manufacturing industry.

In addition to these sights, you will be able to benefi t from the insights shared during the largest, longest-running, and most respected additive manufacturing conference in North America. More than 150 industry leaders will be sharing their

thoughts on how to: t Revolutionize product design t Reduce time to market t Create prototypes in a fraction of the time of traditional methods

t Cut costs t Eliminate tooling t Manufacture functional demonstration parts t Produce low volume end-user parts and components Highlights of the conference include Todd Grimm, presi-

dent of T.A. Grimm & Associates, who will provide a roundup of all the new equipment for 3D printing and scanning that

has debuted since RAPID 2015 was held. Ed Morris, direc- tor of America Makes—the fi rst Manufacturing Innovation Institute established by the federal government—will also deliver a keynote. America Makes is the National Additive Manufacturing Innovation Institute. Morris will discuss the role of this public-private partnership in the additive manufactur- ing industry.

In addition there will be a panel discussion focusing on how additive manufacturing technology is transitioning to full part production. Scheduled panelists are Leo Christodoulou of The Boeing Co., Kevin Creehan of America Makes and Barbara Negroe of GE Corporate.
