T is splendid stalwart of rosedom has been gracing landscapes since its introduction in 1905. T roughout the summer it off ers a repeated display of reddish-violet, double fl owers that perfume the air with their spicy clove fragrance. Large, bright red rose hips follow in fall. Rugose-type, dark green foliage takes on orange hues in fall and is rarely bothered by insects or disease. Plants fi ll in nicely for screening. Hardy in Zone 3. Grown own root.

David Austin prefers to classify this as an English Rose because it has much in common with what he regards as the ideal English Rose. Light pink, rosette-type fl owers shade to salmon- pink at their centers with yellow undertones and red highlights, their hue varying somewhat due to hot or cool temperatures. Shade-tolerant plants stay nicely compact and are fi lled with green, leathery foliage, blooming in fl ushes throughout the season. Considered by some to be the fi rst fl oribunda rose. Hardy in Zone 4.
