ROAD TO COQUITLAM
The 2016 FIL U19 World Championship begins July 7 in Coquitlam, British Columbia. The
25-member Team USA will gather for a final training camp during Fourth of July weekend in Seattle, and then bus across the border. The 10-day tournament, ending July 16, marks a culmination of a U.S. tryout and training process that began last year with more than 400 applicants from 28 states. It also marks a chance for the U.S. program to win its eighth straight gold medal. Follow the journey with a special video series at

ROLL In its final training event before reuniting
on the West Coast in July, the U.S. U19 team broke in the new National Lacrosse Center in Sparks, Md., for a two-day camp the week after the NCAA season ended. Parents were also welcomed to a Saturday night reception.
“For the first time, it’s the 25 men that will be going across the border together,” Team USA and Ohio State coach Nick Myers said. “I think that felt really good to have that consistency of each other, really starting to build a brotherhood. These guys have all spent the spring playing for various programs and now it’s just getting back entrenched in the USA way and the way we’re going to do things.” The transition from college to Team USA was quicker for some. Henningsen, and North Carolina’s Timmy Kelly and Jack Rowlett left Lincoln Financial Field on Memorial Day with national championship t-shirts and the Tar Heels’ 25-year NCAA men’s title drought behind them. Seven days later, they left Team USA’s new locker room facilities with workout instructions until they meet again in Seattle.
