a strong team with high hopes from the country and all of it disappeared in one small plane crash, but that small crash dramati- cally changed how people looked at skating around the country. I have two older siblings; a brother and

a sister. Tey had both skated long before me. I had always wanted to surpass them and right now, I am in pre-juvenile and still pursuing my dreams. I skate six days a week and I am working hard to try to go to the Olympic Winter Games. I want to work hard to try to continue

on the dreams that all of the athletes and coaches had that were in the plane crash. It would be an honor to carry all of the last dreams and RISE like a star.

Keep going AMBER BARTH

(JUVENILE) Tere are many people in my life who

inspire me to keep going every day. Some of these people are my coach or my friends, but the main two people are my mom and dad. My parents always cheer me up when

I think I’m not good enough to compete against others because some are better than me. Tey always believe in me and make me want to be the best I can be. When Scott Hamilton’s mom died, he decided that he wasn’t going to be any less than she thought he could be. From that day on, he didn’t want to be an underachiever. On the 50th anniversary of the tragic plane crash, skaters and coaches gathered to remember those who came before them. Tose whose dreams were left to fulfill. When Peggy Fleming’s mom told her about the plane crash with the skating team and her coach on board, she decided to start competing to fulfill her coach’s dream for her. Tat’s how my parents always keep me going. Tey believe that I have the strength of a champion and make me want to believe I can be one.

Tis year my parents are encouraging me to go for my dream of making it to sectionals. Teir encouragement makes me feel like I can achieve my dream. My coach hasn’t had any of her younger students go to sectionals yet, and I really want to fulfill that dream for both of us. I’m so glad my parents are here to get

me through skating, and I hope to honor the team on the plane to Prague for the 1961 World Figure Skating Championships by going for my dreams like they didn’t get the chance to — I will keep going!
