TO THE ENTIRE USA VOLLEYBALL FAMILY OF STAFF, ATHLETES, regions, coaches, parents, officials, event organizers, sponsors, and volunteers Happy New Year and thank you for your continued support of beach, indoor and sitting volleyball in the USA. The year is off to a great start as USA Volleyball welcomes our new chief executive officer, Jamie Davis, to lead us in 2017 and beyond.
And with that, a new era of USA Vol- leyball begins. The Board of Directors made Jamie

its unanimous selection after an extensive, worldwide search. We sought out and found an experienced executive who could help us get to the next level in terms of a new business strategy that will support the continued success of our USA national teams, provide our Regional Volleyball Associations with more opportunities to share the sport with others and protect them in the process, and make stars of our athletes from the junior club players across the country to the National Teams, Olympians and Paralympians representing USA Volleyball at the highest levels. This is just the start of things to come. I am confident that we found the right person who recognizes our commercial potential, who knows where we need to be, and more importantly, can help us get there together.
What impresses me the most about
Jamie preparing for this day is his passion for what USA Volleyball is, and what we can be. He is a parent, and he sees us from a parent’s eyes with curiosity and excitement. He is a seasoned business professional, and he sees in us valuable assets for raising our profile among other major sports. He has the ability to get us to that “next level” we often speak about in hushed tones. And while he has not come from within our pipeline per se, he has done a great deal for us already by advocating for volleyball at the highest levels of the broadcast media world, and the worlds of e-commerce and technology. He cares about our athletes of the past, present and future and will find new ways to sup-
port them on and off the court. I see in him a genuine desire to help us connect beach, indoor and sitting volleyball at every level with new revenue streams, access new resources, and share our sport with an entirely new audience without overlooking our old one. I see in him some- one who will protect our best interests worldwide, and prioritize our needs. I see the wheels spinning already and I am energized by his enthusiasm and passion for USA Volleyball. In this issue, you will read all about the impressive background of the man poised to lead
USA Volleyball as we enter the first Quad year of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics and Paralympics. He is a mentor and a person described by his colleagues as “open and fair.” He is a negotiator who will fight for the best interests of USA Volleyball behind the scenes every day. He is pro- fessional and precise, and will tackle the reorganization of USA Volleyball from top to bottom headfirst, with the full support of the Board of Directors. He is a person who seeks action and empowers his team to achieve greatness. He is someone who will hold those around him ac- countable, and that will increase our productivity to grow the game beyond our expectations. Jamie Davis is a leader. Welcome, Jamie. Let’s get started.
