The last four years were a special time for USA Weightlifting and its athletes. We’re looking back at the top 10 moments of the quad as we look forward to Tokyo 2020.
10 Membership & Direct Athlete
Support Increase Since 2012, USA Weightlifting’s member- ship has increased more than 150%. In turn, the money given to athletes in our Direct Athlete Support program has also grown tremendously. As we look ahead to the next four years, we hope to continue building our membership numbers and supporting our athletes in new ways. 9 2014 Junior Pan American
Championships Reno, Nevada hosted neighboring coun- tries at the 2014
Junior Pan American
Championships. Team USA did not disap- point, claiming 10 medals including two golds. Darren Barnes (56kg) won gold with a 110kg snatch while teammate Ian Wilson (105kg) won gold with a 168kg snatch. Maris- sa Klingseis (+75kg) swept silver with a 98kg snatch, 120kg clean & jerk and 218kg total.
7 Marissa Klingseis Wins Bronze at
2013 Junior World Championships Emerging as a top athlete in her weight category, Marissa Klingseis (+75kg) caught the attention of the world with her bronze medal performance at the 2013 Junior World Championships in Lima, Peru. Klingsies snatched 104kg, clean & jerked 125kg to a total of 229kg. Winning three bronze medals, Klingseis started
8 Kendrick Farris Makes Third
Olympic Team Kendrick Farris (94kg) did something many athletes only dream of doing. Making three Olympic teams. Farris, 30, stepped onto the Olympic platform for the third time at the Games of the XXXI Olympiad in Rio de Janeiro this past August. Far- ris’ third Olympic berth was fueled by a new American Record in total with 377kg. Farris believes he still has gas in the tank and is looking to make his fourth Olympic team in 2020.

6 Jenny Arthur Sets American
Record at 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil Jenny Arthur’s (75kg) spectacular perfor- mance on the world stage gave her the first slot on Team USA Weightlifting for the Games of the XXXI Olympiad in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. At Rio 2016, Arthur made history on the world’s largest stage. With her third snatch attempt at 107kg, Arthur set a new Senior American Record when she completed the lift. Arthur went on to lift 135kg in the clean & jerk to a to- tal of 242kg, finishing 6th overall.
