100th Anniversary Carpenter Brothers Inc. (Milwaukee) is celebrating its 100th anniversary. Te company was founded in 1917 by Everett and Milton Carpenter, who started the company in Milwaukee with $410 between them. In 1917, the brothers were hired to run Foundrymen’s Supply
Company. Later in 1917, they both enlisted in World War I and left for France. After their return in 1918, they incorporated the company, and in 1921 they officially changed its name to Car- penter Brothers Inc., with Milton Carpenter serving as president and Everett Carpenter as secretary-treasurer. Milton Carpenter was the company’s first president until his death in 1942 when Everett Carpenter succeeded him. Hired in 1943, Bradley Booth succeeded Everett Carpenter as president in 1968. In 1963, Everett Carpenter’s son, John, joined, and on Booth’s retirement in 1979, John Carpenter became president & CEO and remains board chairman today. Hired in 1983, Mi- chael Morrison succeeded John Carpenter as president in 2010, and Nicholas Gerrits became president and CEO in 2016. Today, the company’s headquarters are still located in Milwau-
kee with branch offices throughout the U.S., out of which 23 out- side technical sales engineers handle sales and technical service. “What have been and are Carpenter Brothers Inc.’s goals?
Technological innovation, creativity and diversification as well as having excellent customer and supplier relations, excellent employee relations, and, of course, increasing sales and profits,” the company said in a news release. “We believe that the only proven way to achieve these goals is to engender trust and honesty. Tese qualities create a lasting competitive advantage, attract talent, strengthen partnerships, and establish positive relationships with new and established customers.” Carpenter Brothers Inc. is a dealer, distributor, and
representative for manufacturers of industrial supplies and equipment. Although metalcasting supplies and equipment make up the majority of products and sales, diversification has added products and services for the diecasting, environ- mental, blast cleaning and surface finishing industries. “Our close team is positioned for a strong start to another suc- cessful 100 years,” said Gerrits, who added that the company is looking forward to starting its second successful century.
