Ohio Diecaster to Add 40 Jobs During Expansion Apex Aluminum Die Casting, Pi-


qua, Ohio, has announced plans to hire 40 new employees during its transi- tion to a 24-hour, seven-days-a-week schedule beginning Jan. 1, 2016. Te metalcaster currently operates on a 24- hour schedule five days per week, with a workforce of 120. In recent years, Apex


Aluminum has seen demand spike and is recruiting for shop floor, supervisor and quality assurance positions. “We’re going to need at least 40


new employees,” Pat Zimmerman, president, told the Piqua Daily Call. “Our operations manager selected [an outside firm] to do the staffing,”


Zimmerman said. “It’s a big step for us adding them and, again, finding folks is getting harder to do.” In addition to the expansion in


its workforce, Apex Aluminum is planning a $500,000 investment to expand its 100,000-sq.-ft. Piqua facility and a machining operation in nearby Troy, Ohio. Apex Aluminum produces castings up to 18 lbs. for a variety of industries including heavy truck, electrical and industrial markets.

gan, Ill., acquired the Pangborn Group, Fairburn, Ga., a manufacturer of shotblasting and surface prepara- tion equipment for the metalcasting industry, from Atlas Holdings LLC, Greenwich, Conn. Pangborn will continue to operate its nine facilities, including sites in Germany, Italy and China. Pangborn, which employs more than 250 people, offers services for the entire lifecycle of its shot-blasting and surface preparation equipment, includ- ing design, installation, and aftermarket rebuild and service.


Te SLR Group, Manchester, U.K.,


a manufacturer of iron castings for construction and agricultural machin- ery, is planning to construct a new plant in Sankt Leon-Rot, Germany. A total investment of $7.5 million is expected to be made in new construction and renovations to existing structures in the industrial area Rot-Malsch.


Mumtalakat Holding Company, Manama, Bahrain, and Synergies Cast- ings, Visakhapatnam, India, announced plans to build a $150 million aluminum facility in Bahrain. Te aluminum cast- ing and specialty alloy wheel manufac- turing plant will take around 18 months to build and is expected to open in late-2017. Te joint venture is a 51-49% split between Synergies Castings and Mumtalakat, with the latter helping to secure loans from Bahraini banks to finance construction.
